Emilie Sandberg

Artist Overview

7 Years in the professional circus business,
43 Countries, Hundreds of shows

Emelie was a seven-year-old little girl when she experienced her first meeting with the
world of circus. It was love at first sight. She grew up in Norrköping, Sweden, and in her
hometown there was a circus where you could go and train after school. Circus became
her passion and soon she was a part of “Olana truppen”, an elite group of girls doing
hand to hand and pyramids on each other. Olana was for many years her second family
and together they travelled and participated in different festivals in countries like Italy,
Germany and Switzerland. Emelie did her first TV-show as a 12-year-old, her group was
a part of the show of the swedish version of Eurovision Song Contest. That year they
also got the great honour to perform at the Nobel Banquet in Stockholm, where the
swedish king was in the audience.

2004, Emelie was auditioning and selected for ”Vita Hästen”, an operetta performed
together with swedish celebrities at ”Lilla Teatern” in Norrköping, Sweden.
One year later the other girls in her acrobatic troupe decided to go their on paths in lives,
doing other things. In that period the dance training, which she earlier had been doing
parallel with the circus, came to take a bigger part in her life. She was then spending a
great amount of hours in the dance studio, studying everything from ballet to
contemporary together with dancers who has since then been working in big
productions such as Wallmans and Moulin Rouge. However, her passion for circus was
always greater, so one day when she was 18 years old, she was asked to come and work
with the fantastic circus perfomer, Erik Ivarsson. She was then more than happy to once
again be a part of the circus life. This was the beginning of a long and great
collaboration and this was also when Emelie decided to order an aerial silk and a book
and to start create her own act. An act, which one year later took her to places all over
the world.

Later on, a trapeze act, followed by two contortion acts and one adagio have taken
place in her repertoire. She created ”Rendezvous”, a unique contortion act, where she at
the end elegantly surprises her audience by being the only artist in the world standing on
real eggs. Today she´s working as a solo performer as well as in an adagio together with her
American husband, Royer Segura Calderón. For the past 7 years, she has participated,
doing several festivals, variety shows and cruise ships worldwide. She has also been on
tour in India and was as well invited to be a part of the TV-show ”Norway´s got talent”,
where she performed 2014.

Emelie expresses a genuine enthusiasm and with her loveable charm and feminine glow
she´s making her audience feeling welcomed and touched all over the world.
