Soul Connection comprising of Portia Emare and Richard Leeson first met in Gstaad, Switzerland, while performing for a private celebrity event.
It was there in the snowy mountains, they made an instant connection. With a passion for soul music and performing, Soul Connection was born.
Between the two of them they have performed as lead vocalists in West End shows, Dirty Dancing, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and travelled the world with smash hit musical Mamma Mia, and played the lead roles in shows such as the Lion King, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and High School Musical. This has taken them around the world having performed in some of the biggest arenas and theatres in Hong Kong, New York, Dubai, Sydney, Tel Aviv, China, Zurich, Prague to name a few.
Richard and Portia have also had the privilege of performing solo at The Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and the Barbican Concert Hall. Portia and Richard both have a huge passion for songwriting and have worked with some of the biggest music producers around the world on their original material. Richard has just finished his album, co written with producer Pete Gleadall named ‘Kaleidoscopic’ (Pete has worked with Pet Shop Boys, George Michael, Take That and Kylie) while Portia has created her first EP and music video named Locket produced by OD Hunte available on iTunes this summer.
Both huge lovers of soul music and musical theatre with influences from Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Barbra Streisand and many more. They have put together a show that will take you on a journey from some of the classic songwriters such as Bacharach and Elton John and other leading artists.
