The Piano Brothers are DOMINIC ANTHONY FERRIS and ELWIN HENDRIJANTO.
The Piano Brothers began performing together in 2009 whilst studying at the Royal College of Music and staged their first public outing to a packed RCM concert hall performing Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from ‘West Side Story’ for two pianos.
After playing for the international press launch of the Royal Wedding at Lancaster House, they recorded their first EP at Abbey Road Studios in February 2012.
Dominic and Elwin soon came to the attention of Steinway & Sons. Steinway’s managing director, Craig Terry, hosted a launch event for The Piano Brothers last year at Steinway Hall London, where they performed an electrifying concert of original piano arrangements with such material as Adele, Muse and The Lion King. The evening was a unique experience - The Piano Brothers transformed London’s Steinway Hall into an evening of theatre and first class showmanship.
Craig Terry said of the evening: “The Piano Brothers’ performance was so creative and exciting, I didn’t want it to end”.
Recently, Dominic and Elwin were approached by Steinway & Sons to compose the music for a brand new feature for Telegraph Luxury entitled: ‘The Making of a Steinway B’. This breathtaking short film, made by Glen Milner, shows the building process of a Steinway grand piano in the world famous Hamburg factory.
Dominic and Elwin performed the piano parts for the opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympics, recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
Their official London launch was at Kings Place London. Produced by Talent Unlimited and featuring EMC Strings, The Piano Brothers unleashed a ‘tour de force’ featuring their trademark fiery arrangements of modern classics.
The Piano Brothers’ mission is to entwine virtuoso piano playing with the music of today, and to make it accessible for children and adults, inspiring them to start playing or pick up where they left off.
